Botswana/Zimbabwe

Day 1:

Arrival in Maun

Welcome to Maun, Botswana - a vibrant town rich in local culture and the perfect starting point for your expedition. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by Terry and I to begin your adventure into the wild.

Days 2–4:

Wild Camping along the Khwai River

From Maun, we head northeast to the Khwai River, a spectacular area rich in wildlife and natural beauty. You'll enjoy true bush living with wild camping under the stars, surrounded by the sounds of the African night. At night, you may fall asleep to the roar of lions and the soft whispers of the African bush. We’ll be wild camping in designated campsites - unfenced areas that offer a true immersion in the wilderness. You will be taken on game drives along the river, where you might spot elephants, lions, wild dogs, and leopards among the floodplains and woodlands.

You’ll also have the option to enjoy a peaceful mokoro boat trip on the Khwai River gliding silently through the water while watching for hippos, birds, and other wildlife.

Day Trip into Moremi Game Reserve

During your stay in Khwai, we’ll take a full-day excursion into the renowned Moremi Game Reserve - one of Botswana’s top wildlife destinations. Expect breathtaking landscapes filled with lush floodplains, dense woodlands, and majestic ancient trees that provide shelter to a rich variety of wildlife. This diverse habitat offers incredible opportunities for photography and game viewing.

Days 5–6:

Chobe National Park – Savuti Region

We head north into the remote and iconic Savuti region of Chobe National Park, famous for its open savannahs, dramatic landscapes, and intense predator activity. The Savuti Channel, which mysteriously flows and dries over time, shapes the area's unique ecosystem. It’s one of the best places in Botswana to see lions, hyenas, leopards, and large herds of elephants. Camping here surrounds you with the untamed beauty of nature.

Days 7–9:

Kasane & Chobe National Park

We travel to Kasane, the vibrant town serving as the main access point to Chobe National Park. Here, you have the option to experience a stunning sunset cruise on the Chobe River, drifting past herds of elephants and hippos as the sky transforms with vibrant colours. You'll  enjoy thrilling game drives in Chobe National Park, known for its dense populations of elephants, buffalo, lions, and other wildlife.

A day trip takes us across the border to Zimbabwe to visit Victoria Falls - locally known as Mosi-oa-Tunya, 'The Smoke that Thunders'. Marvel at this awe-inspiring natural wonder and learn about its cultural significance before returning to Kasane.

Days 10–11:

Travel to Nata

After Kasane, we travel to Nata - a quiet town near salt pans and wetlands. It’s a great spot to rest and enjoy some birdwatching before continuing your expedition.

Days 12–13:

Makgadikgadi Pans

We head to the vast and otherworldly Makgadikgadi Pans - one of the largest salt flats in the world. Explore this unique landscape, spotting meerkats, zebras, and diverse birdlife. Experience the magic of the pans’ open skies and stunning sunsets for a truly treasured adventure.

Day 14:

Departure from Maun

Having explored the wilds of Botswana, you’ll be transferred back to Maun for your onward flight - your suitcase heavy with memories and your camera alive with treasured moments. Carry with you the whispers of the bush, the colours of the sunset, and the heartbeat of Africa’s wild heart wherever you go.

  • Traveling in Africa: No two journeys in Africa are identical. Be prepared for travel times to be long. Weather and road conditions can change things significantly, so embrace the detours, shortcuts, discomforts and unforeseen moments along the way.

  • Malaria and Degue:
    This are mosquito-borne diseases commonly found in many parts of Africa. Before you travel, discuss your itinerary with a doctor and monitor your government foreign travel advice for up-to-date information on risk levels in particular areas. To reduce your risk of mosquito bites, protect yourself by using insect repellent and wearing long, loose, light-coloured clothing.

  • Visas & Entry Requirements:
    Many countries require a visa and obtaining the correct visa for your trip and any countries you may transit through is your responsibility. We recommend you check your visa requirements as soon as you have booked your trip. This will ensure you have time to prepare your documents and for your visa application to be processed.
